RTR 4/2010 44  InnoTrans – Even more railway than ever before! Fig. 7: Siemens’ Velaro D (Deutsche Bahn’s class 407) and ladies renowned for speed too so presented its Itino multiple unit, which features a C.L.E.A.N. (Catalyst Based Low Emission Application) propulsion system, a key element in the group’s ECO4 philosophy. Many companies announced the innovations they were intending to present before even going to the trade fair, and these included Siemens. Siemens did, however, market (Fig. 5), with a total of 46 of these 21.8-metre-long, 130-tonne locomotives destined for local public-transport operators in New Jersey and Montreal. These electrodiesels can reach 200 km/h when running under an overhead power supply. On nonelectrified sections of the networks, they can still manage 160 km/h with their two Caterpillar diesel engines.
