Mit 13.000 Beschäftigten in 240 Unternehmen, die jährlich eine Milliarde Euro Umsatz generieren, gehört Sachsen zu den Top-3-Zentren der Bahnbranche in Deutschland. Zwei Dutzend wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen sowie zahlreiche Unternehmen des Fahrzeug-Engineerings, der Montage und der Instandhaltung sowie des Verkehrswegebaus bieten in Sachsen die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette bahntechnischer Systeme. Unsere Unternehmen tragen mit rund 20 Prozent zu einem beachtlichen Anteil zum Gesamtumsatz der Branche in Deutschland bei. Die Bedeutung Sachsens für den Bahnsektor unterstreicht das 2019 in Dresden angesiedelte Deutsche Zentrum für Schienenverkehrsforschung (DZSF). Mit dem Offenen Digitalen Testfeld des DZSF, dem Smart Rail Connectivity Campus – einer Forschungseinheit für das hoch autonome Fahren auf Normalspurgleisen – und dem im Aufbau befindlichen Hydrogen and Mobility Innovation Center (HIC) in Chemnitz hat Sachsen die besten Voraussetzungen, um die Zukunft der schienengebundenen Mobilität in Europa mitzugestalten. Dem Bahntechnikcluster Rail.S, zugleich Träger des Innovationsclusters SET4FUTURE, kommt dabei die Rolle eines Vermittlers, Motivators und auch Inspirators zu. Mit rund 100 Mitgliedern ist Rail.S zu einem der größten Bahntechniknetzwerke Deutschlands herangewachsen und als Mitbegründer der europäischen Bahnclusterinitiative ERCI zu einer zentralen Säule im Gebäude der Branchenakteure aus ganz Europa geworden. Das Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Verkehr wird Rail.S sowie innovative FuE- und Investitionsvorhaben seiner Mitglieder auch künftig nach Kräften unterstützen. The railway industry, including its highly diversified suppliers and service providers, is one of the key players on the way to sustainable mobility. With 13,000 employees in 240 companies which generate an annual turnover of one billion Euro, Saxony is one of the top 3 centres of the railway industry in Germany. Two dozen scientific institutions as well as numerous companies in vehicle engineering, assembly and maintenance as well as transport infrastructure construction offer the entire value chain of railway technology systems in Saxony. With about 20 percent, our companies contribute a considerable amount to the total turnover of this sector in Germany. Saxony's importance for the rail sector is underlined by the Deutsche Zentrum für Schienenverkehrsforschung (DZSF; German Centre for Rail Traffic Research), which was settled in Dresden in 2019. With the DSZF's Open Digital Test Bed, the Smart Rail Connectivity Campus – a research facility for highly autonomous driving on standard gauge tracks – and the currently under construction Hydrogen and Mobility Innovation Center (HIC) in Chemnitz, Saxony has the best conditions to take part in shaping the future of rail-based mobility in Europe. The railway industry cluster Rail.S, also governing body of the innovation cluster SET4FUTURE, has the role of a mediator, motivator and inspirator. With around 100 members, Rail.S has grown into one of the largest rail technology networks in Germany and, as a co-founder of the European Rail Cluster Initiative (ERCI), became a central pillar in the structure of industry players from all over Europe. The Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport will continue to support Rail.S and its members' innovative R&D and investment projects to the best of its ability. Mit rund 100 Mitgliedsunternehmen und assoziierten Netzwerkpartnern sind wir ein starker Verein, der weit über die Grenzen von Sachsen hinaus tätig ist und auch öffentlich wahrgenommen wird. Denn trotz aller aktuellen Sorgenmit Corona stehen die Sterne für die Bahntechnik weiterhin gut: Europa befindet sich seit 2021 im erklärten Jahrzehnt der Eisenbahn, die neue Bundesregierung widmet der Modernisierung sowie dem Ausbau der Bahninfrastruktur große Aufmerksamkeit und stellt umfangreiche finanzielle Mittel dazu bereit. Bei der Deutschen Bahn nimmt das ambitionierte Konzernprogramm „Digitale Schiene Deutschland“ schrittweise konkrete Gestalt an – eine Mammutaufgabe bei rollendem Verkehr. Und wir sind dabei! From the numerous small and medium-sized industrial and service companies to renowned research institutions and the major players in the industry, everything is represented here which society needs for a real change in transport: a strong railway. Despite all the current concerns with Corona, the signs for railway technology continue to look good: Europe has been in the declared decade of the railway since 2021, and the new federal government is devoting a great amount of attention to the modernisation and expansion of the railway infrastructure and is making extensive financial resources available for this purpose. At Deutsche Bahn, the ambitious corporate programme “Digitale Schiene Deutschland” is beginning to take concrete shape – a mammoth task for running traffic. And we are part of it!
