Der dabei zugrundeliegende werkstoff- und branchenübergreifende Ansatz und das am ILK entwickelte „Dresdner Modell des funktionsintegrativen Systemleichtbaus in Multi-Material-Design“ sind Markenzeichen in Forschung und Lehre und inzwischen weltweit aufgegriffen worden. Das Forschungsspektrum reicht von der Grundlagenforschung über die anwendungsorientierte Forschung bis hin zu konkreten Innovationsentwicklungen für unsere Industriepartner. Dabei kann das ILK auf viele erfolgreiche Markteinführungen neuer Leichtbaulösungen sowie auf inzwischen 18 Ausgründungen verweisen. Gleichzeitig werden am ILK entwickelte rechnerische und experimentelle Methoden von kooperierenden Engineering-Unternehmen, wie der Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH, als Dienstleistungen bereitgestellt. Im Bereich des Schienenfahrzeugbaus unterhält das ILK langfristige nationale und internationale Partnerschaften mit Systemanbietern und Zulieferern sowie Forschungseinrichtungen. Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology At the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) of the TU Dresden, around 250 employees carry out research and development work in the field of resource-saving lightweight design with high material and energy efficiency. The cross-materials, cross-industry approach, and the “Dresden Model of Function-Integrative System Lightweight Engineering in Multi-Material Design” developed at the ILK are trademarks in research and education and have meanwhile been taken up worldwide. The research spectrum ranges from basic and application-oriented research to concrete innovation developments for our industrial partners. The ILK can refer to many successful market launches of new lightweight solutions and 18 spin-offs. At the same time, modelling and experimental methods developed at the ILK are provided as services by cooperating engineering companies, such as the Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH.
